Procedure of Enrollment

1. Applying for a course/program

Note: The application fee is not refundable once paid

※Language Study Programs:

Copy of the highest graduation document and academic transcript

※Undergraduate Programs:

 ①Copy of high school (and/or higher) graduation document

 ②Copy of college study certificate and academic transcript for students who intend to join from semester 2 of Grade 1, semester 1 or 2 of Grade 2, semester 1 of Grade 3

 ③Valid HSK Test Score Report

 ④Certificate of No Criminal Record or Commitment Letter of No Criminal Record

 ⑤Physical Examination Certificate or Health Commitment Letter

 ⑥Letter of Guarantee for Applicant Under 18

※Postgraduate Programs:

 ①Apply for master’s degree program: Copy of bachelor’s (or higher) graduation document;

Apply for doctoral degree program: Copy of master’s (or higher) graduation document

 ②Apply for master’s degree program: HSK 5 test score report and 180 points (or higher);

Apply for doctoral degree program: HSK 6 test score report and 180 points (or higher)

 ③Two pieces of recommendation letters from (associate) professors in the related academic field


Note: All submitted materials should be in English or Chinese. If the submitted documents are not in English or Chinese, the notarized English or Chinese translations should be provided.


2. Waiting for the review result

After the submitted materials arrive at ICCS, it will take us about two weeks to review these materials. Applicants will be informed via e-mail (including, but not limited to) as we get a result of the reviewing process.


3. Taking a test

(1) Online placement test for language students

Spring semester: late February

Autumn semester:early September

(2) Entrance examination for undergraduates:

 ①Time:

13:00 Saturday (Beijing time)

Spring semester:

Batch 1: mid December

Batch 2: late January

Autumn semester:

Batch 1: mid June

Batch 2: early September

 ②Venue:

On campus: ICCS Building, Shanghai Normal University (No.100 Guilin Road, Shanghai)

Online: Tencent meeting/VooV Meeting (Software/App)


4.Admission documents

After passing the review process, the school will provide VISA application documents to the applicants.

  1. One year programs (degree and language study): Admission Notice and JW202 From -->X1 VISA

  2. One semester programs (language study): Admission Notice and DQ From -->X2 VISA

Note: JW202 Form and DQ Form could download through the official website of STUDY in CHINE (https://www.studyinchina.edu.cn).

 


5. Applying for the study type VISA

Students can submit their VISA application at local embassy/consulate VISA center with the required documents.


6. Paying the tuition fee

After paying the tuition fee, please scan and send the remittance slip to the e-mail address: iccs@shnu.edu.cn

Students will be invited to join the program chat group once the school has confirmed the payment.


7. Purchase the insurance

International students (self-supporting) should purchase International Student Insurance before they arrive in China or on the day of their arrival.

Guide for purchase: Access the website www.lxbx.net -> click  “Buy insurance” -> log in by using your passport number -> select “SHNU 800 YUAN Plan” -> click “Buy insurance” -> choose the period of insurance--800 YUAN for 12 months or 400 YUAN for 6 months, then to confirm the contract and finish the payment.


8. Registration

Complete the on-campus registration within the allotted registration time.Students who can't arrive on time for the registration must ask for permission from the International Students Center and the International College of Chinese Studies.

10. Medical examination and Residence Permit application

Students enter China by holding X1 VISA should apply for RP within 30 days from the day they enter into China. Before applying, the applicant needs to provide the Health Certificate issued by the Shanghai International Travel Healthcare Center.

Registration of temporary residence should be done within first 24 hours after entry. Students who live on campus could apply for Registration Form of Temporary Residence at reception of the Xuesiyuan International Student Apartment. Students who live off-campus should get the registration form issued by the hotel or the police station or fill the online application to register.

11. Attending the courses

After we received the remittance slip, you can join in the class group and attend courses according to the class timetable.
